Rideshare coverage thins out fast once you leave the coast, and a country taxi to Sydney is a metered job with no fixed price and a return leg you are paying for either way. Neither is something to plan a flight around.

Goulburn has taxis, but not a fleet sized for a two-hour run to Sydney and back at three in the morning. Take one and the town is short a car for hours.
Rideshare is worse. Coverage is thin across the Tablelands at the best of times and close to non-existent in the small hours, which is when most airport runs leave. A driver has to accept a job that takes them four hours from home — plenty will not.
A metered fare over that distance is not knowable in advance. Traffic, the route taken and the time of day all move it, and on a long job the operator may also charge for the return leg whether you are in the car or not.
That is the structural difference. Our fare is published on this site before you ring, and it is the same figure at 2am on a public holiday as at 2pm on a Tuesday. There is no surge, because there is no meter.
Short local runs, in town, during the day. That is what it is built for and it does it well.
What it is not built for is a pre-booked, four-hundred-kilometre round trip that has to happen at a specific hour on a specific morning with a flight at the end of it.
Check the current prices yourself. We deliberately do not quote a dollar figure for the alternatives on this page — they change, and a stale number in our own favour would not be an honest comparison. Our fare is published on the fares page; hold it against whatever the alternative actually costs today.
Sometimes, unreliably. Coverage is thin across the Tablelands and thinner at the hours airport runs leave. It is not something to plan a flight around.
There is no fixed answer, which is the point. It is metered over roughly two hours of driving, and long jobs often attract a return-leg charge as well.
Almost certainly, and more usefully it is knowable. Ours is published before you ring and does not move with traffic or the time of day.
Some operators will try. Whether a car is actually free on the morning is a different question, and the fare still will not be fixed.
No surge, no weekend rate and no public-holiday surcharge. Set fees apply for pickups before 6am (+$20), after 8pm (+$10) or after 10pm (+$20).
Published fixed fare, no deposit, and nothing charged until after drop-off.
Not sure which option suits you? Ask and we will tell you honestly.
